There is no doubt professionals need an online presence to market their unique skills and accomplishments for networking and job searches. LinkedIn provides professionals with a platform to present career achievements, search for jobs, research companies, expand professional network and engage in professional growth opportunities.
Here are three tips from our upcoming April 22 webinar “LinkedIn for Beginners” with José Miguel Longo, Social Media Strategist and Internship Consultant, Stony Brook University Career Center:
- Be strategic. Write personalized invitations to connect and expand your network. Use the “Find Alumni” feature to connect with alumni who are working in your field of interest and conduct informational interviews.
- Join ” Linkedin Groups.” If you are already connected to many groups, identify informative groups and deactivate the rest. Make a goal to read discussions and article posts daily.
- Bring your online networking efforts offline. Attend local professional development events.
