Your Career Matters: Building Interviewing Skills, Separate Yourself from the Masses

Knowing how to interview properly doesn’t have to be a guessing game. Break down interviewing preparation into three easy stages: before, during and after. This will ensure order while you are collecting relevant information and practicing for your interview.

Here are a few solid techniques and tips to help you better prepare for and manage your job interview:

  1. Prior to the interview, reflect on your career accomplishments. Create positive “career stories” to highlight your relevant strengths.
  2. During the interview, manage the impressions you make — non-verbally and verbally. Make the interview feel like a conversation and end with prepared meaningful questions.
  3. After the interview, send a thank you note indicating anything unique that will remind the interviewer of you.
