The Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team closed the game on a 7-2 run to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time in program history with a 13-9 win over Northwestern Sunday, May 14, in the NCAA Second Round at LaValle Stadium. With the win – Stony Brook’s 15th-straight victory – the Seawolves improve to 20-1, while the Wildcats close their season at 11-10.
The victory marks the first 20-win season in program history for the Seawolves, who went a perfect 11-0 at home this season.
The Seawolves will face No. 1 Maryland Saturday at noon in College Park, Maryland, with the winner advancing to the national semifinals Memorial Day Weekend at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
