Stony Brook University Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Executive Director of Stony Brook Southampton Wendy Pearson was honored by the Town of Southampton as one of its “Women of Distinction” on March 6.
Pearson was nominated by Town of Southampton Supervisor Maria Z. Moore and the Anti-Bias Task Force Committee, which hosted the event at Southampton Town Hall that celebrated Black History and recognized local women for their contributions to the town.
Honorees received certificates of recognition that thanked them for their “outstanding leadership and dedicated service.”
The certificates read, in part: “Thank you for your outstanding efforts to improve our quality of life, encourage positive human relations and, above all, inspire dignity and respect for our multicultural and diverse community.” The certificates were signed by Moore and by town council members Michael A. Iasilli, Cyndi McNamara and William Pell IV.
Pearson joined Stony Brook in November 2023 and works in close partnership with campus leaders and partners to identify and advance Stony Brook’s institutional priorities, including taking the lead in developing an overall plan for the Stony Brook Southampton campus.
