Vi’s View: Spring Break…Already?

The time has come for the long-awaited, widely celebrated college holiday: spring break. But, to be honest, it only feels like I just started this semester last week.

Looking back on it now, I’ve been busy keeping up with classes, socializing, and my overall well-being. However, it’s truly wild to think that I’m already halfway through the semester. Like, I’m only now memorizing when I have classes and where they are. Even more shocking, I’m getting closer and closer to the point when I’m no longer considered “a newbie” on campus. I’ve gone from seeing other students keep prime study spaces secret to finding some of my own. Now, I have enough experience to technically mentor incoming freshmen — truly baffling.

I was brought back to reality this month when my professors reminded me that I had midterms coming up in a week. They didn’t feel like midterms. From my perspective, we had just received our syllabi. But there I was, slowly realizing just how many deadlines were next week. It didn’t feel like I deserved a break – I’m not burnt out at this point in the semester – but I’m definitely taking advantage of any chance I get to sleep in.

The only time that I’ll sacrifice my sleep schedule willingly is when it’s snowing heavily outside at night. Since I’ve experienced that this month, I can’t wait for when the scorching Californian climate I love returns to the Northeast.
