Dr. Rajaram’s research focuses on experimental study of social transmission of memory and emergence of collective memory. Her aim is to understand complex, large-scale group memory phenomena in terms of well-grounded psychological processes. Other lines of research interests over the years include memory and emotion, the distinction between repeated testing and repeated study, the distinction between explicit and implicit memory, new learning in amnesia, and the nature of recollective experience.
“Dr. Rajaram’s service to the profession has been extraordinary, and she is richly deserving of this recognition,” said Sheri Levy, professor and chair, Department of Psychology. “Dr. Rajaram is a national and international leader whose other prestigious leadership roles include President of the Association for Psychological Science, the most important scientific organization for psychological science.”
Dr. Rajaram along with other 2019 award recipients will be honored during the Psychonomic Society’s 2019 Annual Meeting in Montréal in November.
The mission of the Psychonomic Society is to foster the science of cognition through the advancement and communication of basic research in experimental psychology and allied sciences. It achieves this goal through two main mechanisms: (1) an Annual Meeting devoted to the presentation of scientific papers; and (2) the publication of scholarly journals in a variety of domains relating to cognition.
