The Stony Brook University Alumni Association Board of Directors has appointed three new board members, announced Robert W. Stafford ’72, ’82, President of the Stony Brook Alumni Association. The new board members, appointed to three-year terms, include Heather Dufficy ‘99, ‘09, a clinical research program manager; Milin Rao, a financial adviser; and Robert Roth, the recently-retired CFO of HBO.
Heather Dufficy ‘99, ‘09, Program Manager, NYU Langone Long Island Clinical Research Associates
Dufficy earned a BA in Psychology and has held the position of manager of the clinical trial division of a large gastroenterology practice for the past 12 years. Since graduating Stony Brook, Dufficy has regularly attended Wolfstock homecoming, and is a season ticket holder for Stony Brook Football and Stony Brook Men’s Basketball. She has also helped welcome potential students to campus as a volunteer at Admitted Student day. “I hope to continue to meet and have the pleasure of getting to know many young minds that will one day also give back to the University,” Dufficy said. “I hope to continue to connect with the community, and to play an active role in increasing the support that is offered that will allow the University future growth and expansion.”
Milin Rao ‘00, Portfolio Manager and Financial Adviser, Morgan Stanley
Rao graduated with honors from Stony Brook, receiving a BS in Business Management and Economics. He played an integral role in the formation of the Stony Brook Alumni Association’s New Jersey Alumni Chapter, and continues to serve as one of its chapter leaders. As an active alumnus, Rao welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the University’s progress. “There is a special bond that we all share through Stony Brook and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve alongside such distinguished alumni,” Rao said of his appointment. “I hope to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment by helping my alma mater reach even greater heights.”
Robert Roth ‘77, Recently Retired EVP and Chief Financial Officer, Home Box Office (HBO)
Roth earned a BA in Economics from Stony Brook University, and upon his retirement, had served as the CFO for multibillion-dollar company Home Box Office (HBO) for more than 15 years. Prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors, Roth’s desire to support his alma mater resulted in his membership of the Stony Brook University Dean’s Council, and in HBO’s decade-long sponsorship of the Stony Brook Film Festival. A “firm believer in the ‘pay it forward’ philosophy,” Roth hopes to be able to help current students and alumni through his Board participation.
“Heather, Milin and Robert proudly represent the growth and strength of our Alumni Association as we continue to deepen Stony Brook’s footprint both nationally and internationally,” said Stafford. “Their commitment to the Stony Brook community and individual talents will ensure we continue to reach and serve our 160,000-plus alumni, increase alumni participation and support, and raise our rankings and national profile.”
