The Stony Brook Film Festival will present the Emmy Award winning film, God Knows Where I Am, on July 25 at 8 pm. The screening will be free and will feature a live Q&A with actress Lori Singer and directors Jedd and Todd Wider.

God Knows Where I Am documents the story of Linda Bishop, a well-educated New Hampshire mother who suffered from severe bipolar disorder with psychosis. Bishop was intermittently incarcerated and homeless and was committed to a state psychiatric facility for three years. In tackling the subject matter, the filmmakers began from a social justice perspective, but their focus quickly shifted to a more intimate and artistic exploration. The story is told from a variety of perspectives, including her own, through recollection and first-person narrative.
Hailed as “remarkably moving,” by the Los Angeles Times, and “haunting and uncommonly artful,” by the Hollywood Reporter, God Knows Where I Am is a New York Times Critic’s Pick, and a must-watch documentary.
