Kamala Harris’ inauguration last month was a milestone — the manifestation of a transformation that began in the recent election cycle. Black women have emerged as a powerful force in politics, from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ victory to the grassroots organizing power of Stacey Abrams in the Georgia Senate runoffs. Join us as our panel examines the roots of this movement, dating back to the work of barrier-shattering women like Shirley Chisholm, Sojourner Truth and Fannie Lou Hamer, and analyzes the potential impact on the country’s direction in the post-Trump era.

Through this event, contestants will receive valuable feedback and expert advice from established individuals in the industry.  The accepted submissions will have the chance to present their ideas to a panel of professionals as well as to the Stony Brook community in an effort to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit and professional networking.
