The Seawolves Social Hour is back for the summer! These lively gatherings bring together Long Island alumni for relaxed, community-focused events close to home. Seawolves have the chance to enjoy great conversations, light networking and inspiring talks from Stony Brook faculty experts.
Last year, alumni learned about topics ranging from marine science to Stony Brook Medicine’s public health initiatives.
So far this year, the Seawolves Social Hour series stopped in Huntington, where Timothy Glotch, professor and chair of the Department of Geosciences, discussed the geology of the moon and NASA’s Artemis program to return human explorers to the lunar surface, Port Jefferson, where professor Melissa Finucane, PhD explored how emotion, gender, politics and the legacy of historic policies shape how we perceive and respond to environmental health risks and New Hyde Park, where Scott Carney, professor and chair of mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, discussed how scientific advances in the 20th century changed our society and what it took to go from discovery to revolution.
