SBU Graduate Programs Make U.S. News Top 100 Rankings

Stony Brook, NY; Stony Brook University: EntranceSeveral of Stony Brook University’s graduate programs are once again cited among the top 100 nationwide in the U.S. News and World Report 2017 Best Graduate Schools rankings, which were released on March 16.

Clinical Psychology Program: 4th
Physician Assistant Program: 16th
Occupational Therapy Program: 44th
School of Medicine (Research): 56th
College of Engineering and Applied Sciences: 62nd
Physical Therapy: 64th
Social Work: 71st
School of Nursing: 95th
Fine Arts: 98th

Within engineering, Stony Brook’s programs ranked in the top 100 in the following subspecialties:

Materials Engineering: 48th
Computer Engineering: 56th
Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering: 58th
Mechanical Engineering: 65th
Electrical/Electronic/Communications Engineering: 66th
Chemical Engineering: 74th

“It is great to see an upward trajectory in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences,” said CEAS Dean Fotis Sotiropoulos. “Our success attests to the excellence of our faculty and students, the investments made in our college in recent years, and the very hard work of everyone in the CEAS family. In the U.S. News Best Online Programs rankings, SBU’s Online Graduate Nursing Programs ranked 10th, the Online Graduate Business Programs ranked 37th, and the Online Graduate Education Programs ranked 41st.

The 2017 edition features information and rankings in business, law, education, engineering, medicine and nursing – as well as specialty rankings within each graduate school discipline.

The graduate U.S. News rankings are evaluated on factors such as employment rates for graduates, starting salary and standardized test scores of newly enrolled students. Because each graduate program is different, the rankings methodology varies across disciplines.
