Since Spring 2020, Education Coordinator Joyce Raimondo has been conducting free virtual tours and workshops on Zoom for local, regional and international groups. With a wide range of thematic topics — from overcoming disability and loss through creativity to Surrealism, performance art, and visits to other museums — she has expanded and diversified the Pollock-Krasner House’s audience at a time when in-person programs have been severely limited or cancelled.
Intern Daneris Ortega, a Stony Brook University art history and criticism major, will assist Raimondo in administering and expanding the Pollock Krasner House’s public outreach programs, both virtual and in-person when conditions permit.
“The arts have long been a critical sector in our economy, and as we continue to rebuild a stronger New York, it’s essential we do all we can to help this industry thrive once again,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul. The award is part of a $105 million arts revitalization investment.
Raimondo has been education coordinator since 2001 and is the former family programs coordinator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She is the author of seven children’s art books, including MoMA’s popular Art Safari series and the award-winning Art Explorers books.
