Jameel Warney to Play with Dallas Mavericks

Jameel WarneyFormer Stony Brook University basketball forward Jameel Warney ’16 has signed on to play for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2016 Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League from July 2 through July 8.

The 25-game event will feature two teams from the Orlando Magic, along with the Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Mavericks open their schedule on Saturday, July 2, against the Thunder. All games will be played at Amway Center, Orlando’s practice facility.

Warney wrapped up his illustrious career as Stony Brook’s all-time leader in points (2,132), rebounds (1,275), blocks (276) and games played (135).

The three-time America East Player of the Year averaged a career-best 19.8 points per game in 33 games last season, finishing with a school-record 655 points.

Warney averaged 30.3 points and 15.3 during the playoffs and scored a career-high 43 points in the championship game against Vermont as the Seawolves advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time as a Division I program.
