Introducing Stony Brook Mentor Connect: Building Bridges for Success

Welcome to Stony Brook Mentor Connect - Get Started

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new mentoring platform, Stony Brook Mentor Connect. The platform aims to bridge the gap between alumni and current students by facilitating invaluable mentorship, networking, and relationship-building opportunities. It is part of our commitment to fostering meaningful connections within our community.

At Stony Brook University, we believe in the power of mentorship to guide, inspire, and empower the next generation of leaders. With Stony Brook Mentor Connect, alumni like you can give back to your alma mater by volunteering to connect with students and other alumni to share your wealth of knowledge and experience.

What is Stony Brook Mentor Connect?

Stony Brook Mentor Connect is an innovative platform designed to facilitate mentorship relationships between alumni and students and among alumni. Whether you graduated recently or years ago, your insights and expertise can significantly impact the career development of our students and recent graduates.

“The Stony Brook Mentor Connect platform is an easy and efficient communication tool for reaching out to my mentee as well as fellow alumni,” says Terri Randall, ’92, who was one of the first to use the platform. “Having the ability to meet, message, complete milestones, and explore career options in one well-organized, user-friendly virtual space is amazing!”

How Does it Work?

Signing up for Stony Brook Mentor Connect is simple. As an alum, you create a profile highlighting your professional background, industry expertise, and areas of interest. Students can then browse through profiles to find mentors who align with their career aspirations and easily reach out based on the ways you are willing to help. Once connected, mentors and students can engage in meaningful conversations, whether through virtual meetings, email correspondence, or in-person networking events. Mentors have the opportunity to offer guidance, advice, and support while students gain valuable insights into their chosen fields for micro-mentoring, one-time connections. In addition to the ability to reach out to and connect with anyone on the platform for a conversation, we call micro-mentoring. Stony Brook Mentor Connect also hosts formal mentoring programs that connect students with a mentor for a full academic year.

Why Should You Get Involved?

As a Stony Brook alum, you understand the transformative power of education, mentorship, and networking. By joining the platform, you have the chance to make a real difference within our community. Whether you can spare a half-hour for a virtual coffee chat or offer a job-shadowing opportunity, your contributions will help shape the future success of our students.

Moreover, Stony Brook Mentor Connect allows alumni to connect with one another, fostering a vibrant networking and supportive community. Whether you’re seeking career advice, exploring new opportunities, or simply looking to reconnect with old friends, Stony Brook Mentor Connect is the place to be.

Empowering Students Through Networking and Mentorship

Participating in Stony Brook Mentor Connect not only contributes to our students’ professional growth but also helps them understand the power of networking and mentorship in achieving their goals. Through meaningful connections with alumni mentors, students learn to navigate their career paths with confidence and resilience.
