Hold Doors Open On Stony Brook University’s Sixth Annual Giving Day

Holding a door open is a simple gesture that can go a long way. It could bring a smile to someone who might be having a difficult day. Or it allows you the chance to express gratitude.

On Wednesday, March 27, the Stony Brook community will come together for its sixth annual Giving Day – an opportunity to hold doors open for Seawolves everywhere. For 24 hours, gifts will be made to benefit students, faculty, academic programs and initiatives across the Stony Brook footprint.

“I am more inspired every year by the engagement and generosity of the Stony Brook community on Giving Day,” said Justin Fincher, PhD, vice president of advancement and executive director of the Stony Brook Foundation. “I look forward to seeing the community come together and make an even deeper impact this year.”

Last year, more than $810,000 was raised with more than 3,400 gifts, impacting 120 different areas of campus. From the arts and athletics to medicine and research, community members opened doors for our future leaders, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs and forward thinkers. This year, the goal is to raise $1 million from 3,500 gifts.

Follow along on Stony Brook’s Giving Day website, where all gifts will be tracked in real time. There are even some Giving Day challenges that allow some gifts to have an even greater impact.
