Dan Losquadro was elected as Brookhaven Town Superintendent of Highways on March 5, 2013 and was sworn into office on March 12, 2013. Within six months Dan implemented several initiatives to reform and bring accountability and transparency to the Highway Department. The administrative staff he assembled is experienced and ready to lead the town through any adverse weather conditions. Dan also brought the Highway Department into compliance with the New York State labor law on prevailing wage, while simultaneously ending its past practice of no bid contracts. It was past practice for the Department to rent equipment or hire contractors on a daily basis. By going out to bid on drainage, concrete and tree work Dan has increased transparency and accountability while also taking an important step in lowering the costs of this type of work to the benefit of all town taxpayers.
