Business Professor Julia Bear Analyzes Gender Differences in Editing

The free online encyclopedia Wikipedia is mostly run by men, and the number of editors for the site has been shrinking.

Julia Bear, an assistant professor in Stony Brook University’s College of Business, and colleague Benjamin Collier from Carnegie Mellon, have analyzed the issue of gender difference in editing. Their results were published in the journal Sex Roles in January.

Bear joined the College of Business faculty in 2013. Her research focuses on the influence of gender on negotiation outcomes, as well as emotions and conflict management in organizations.
