Alumni Sail the Danube River in Inaugural Travel Program Trip to Germany and Austria

Stony Brook alumni and friends set sail along the Danube River in early December, exploring centuries‑old Christmas markets and historic cities across Germany and Austria. The seven‑night cruise marked the debut of the Alumni & Friends Travel Program, a new opportunity for Seawolves to experience the world together through curated, educational travel.

The group included alumni from various decades, parents of alumni, a Stony Brook Medicine volunteer and family and friends. For Jennifer Filasky, senior director of constituent experience, alumni and events, the most memorable moments were the spontaneous ones. “It was incredibly meaningful to look around and see people from so many backgrounds chatting and laughing as if they’d known each other for years,” she said. “Travel has a way of creating connections that feel effortless, and it was clear this experience helped deepen people’s relationship with Stony Brook and with one another.”
