Thirteen alumni have returned to campus to sit on four panels this month.
Wolfie Tank:
Earlier this month, four alumni convened to sit on a panel as judges for Wolfie Tank, a Shark Tank styled event which gave the Stony Brook community the opportunity to make their Social Entrepreneurial pitch. The alumni panel was made up of: Derek Peterson ’88, CEO/Founder of Digital Fly, James Keane ’08, Global Director of Disruptive Growth Exploration at Anheuser-Busch InBev, Jonathan Bernard ’16, Founder of Street Leafs, and Youn Jung Chung ’15, Founder of Dal Entreprises. Alumni support extended beyond the panel – sponsors of the program included CEAS Alumni Bob Williams ’83 (IVMatters, Inc.) and panel judge Derek Peterson (Digital Fly). American Marketing Association, Stony Brook Chapter Marketing Panel
On Wednesday, November 15, the Stony Brook chapter of the American Marketing Association hosted a marketing panel on topics including brand management, public relations, marketing research, technology marketing, and social media. Beyond Stony Brook: Careers in Art History
On Wednesday, November 8, alumni with expertise in the field of Art History returned to the classroom to speak with students about careers in art history. Panelists explored their experiences during their days here at Stony Brook University and what led them to their respective career paths. Alumni panelists included: Stepahni Gress ’97 ’00 of Vanderbilt Museum, Roland Coffey ’13 of Yale University Press, and Kara Li, a current PhD student, formerly of Christie’s Auction.
“Walking In Your Strength: Living a Successful Life After Sports” Professional Alumni Panel Discussion
On November 9th, the Stony Brook SAAB (Student African American Brotherhood) Chapter and the Department of Athletics collaborated to host a Professional Alumni Panel Discussion with current student athletes called, “Walking In Your Strength: Living a Successful Life After Sports.” During a moderated discussion, led by Mr. Elijah Duff (Student Athlete and SAAB Executive Leader), the panelists shared how their lived experiences as student athletes provided them with invaluable life lessons, transferable skills, and the motivation to live purposeful lives.
