Nothing beats the feeling of coming home.
This sentiment was clear throughout Homecoming weekend, when hundreds of alumni and friends from near and far returned to campus to soak in the familiar sights and sounds of Stony Brook. From “I’m a Seawolf” declarations to reunions with lifelong friends, spirits were high during this weekend of celebrations and festivities.
Homecoming BBQ Brings the Fun
With fun and games for Seawolves of all ages, the Homecoming BBQ was the highlight of the weekend. From all-you-can-eat BBQ favorites to balloon artists, obstacle courses, and a brand-new Intermission Step Show hosted by the Black and Latino Alumni Network (BLA), the BBQ was the perfect destination to come together with family and friends.
Alumni Programs Help Rekindle Lifelong Friendships
It feels good to be back. Through a series of affinity and class reunions, alumni and friends returned to the Brook to reconnect with those who meant the most to them. Among the celebrations over the weekend were:
- Class of 2012 10-Year Reunion
Members of the Class of 2012 reunited to celebrate their 10th anniversary, from a reunion social to campus tours and breakfast. - Stony Brook Kappas HomeKoming Gala
Stony Brook Kappas alumni arrived in style for a black tie affair benefiting the Stony Brook Kappas Endowed Achievement Scholarship. - Homecoming Statesman Alumni Breakfast
Statesman alumni returned to campus to join current Statesman members for breakfast in the media wing before hearing from alumni Howie Klein ’69 and Neil Butterklee, Esq. ’80, ’82. - Black and Latino Alumni Network Multicultural Brunch and Networking Happy Hour
BLA festivities began with their annual Multicultural Brunch and wrapped up with a Networking Happy Hour, with both events supporting the Black and Latino Alumni Network Scholarship Fund. - Haitian Student Organization (HSO) Alumni Reunion Dinner
The HSO alumni group concluded their Homecoming festivities with a fun evening, including live performances and Caribbean cuisine.

From the Homecoming game to the Athletics Hall of Fame, it was an exciting weekend of celebrating excellence for Stony Brook Athletics.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2022 includes the 2012 Stony Brook Baseball team, Allison Brewster (Cukrov) ’15 (Softball), Darcy Heuser-Ryan ’12 (Women’s Swimming & Diving), Kenneth P. LaValle, Claire Cannetti (Petersen) ’13 (Women’s Lacrosse), Tyler Santucci ’10 (Football), Dale Summerville ’05, ’08 (Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field) and Jameel Warney ’16 (Men’s Basketball).
