Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Student Support Student Affairs Nominator Ellen Driscoll with Assistant VP for Advancement Edward Testa ‘87.
At the 26th Annual Frederick Preston Partnership Awards ceremony, hosted by the Office of the Dean of Students on August 9, 2021, Advancement Services Associate Vice President Ed Testa was recognized for his leadership in generating philanthropic dollars for students experiencing financial emergencies.
Thanks to their partnership, alumni, friends and the campus community came together to raise over $1 million for food, rent, living expenses and internet access. These critical funds enabled hundreds of students to stay in school and on track to graduate during the tumultuous early days of the pandemic. Recognizing the impact of emergency support on so many students’ lives, Ed Testa led the effort between University Advancement and the Office of the Dean of Students to generate enough gifts to endow a student emergency support fund.
“Thanks to Ed Testa’s vision, his work and determination,” said his award nominator, Assistant Dean of Students, Ellen Driscoll, “Stony Brook Seawolves will now and forever have student emergency support funds to access in times of acute financial crisis that will allow them to continue their education.”
