Colleen Walsh-Irwin, RN ’92, ANP ’95, DNP ’14 will receive the School of Nursing Distinguished Alumnus Award on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Hamlet Golf & Country Club in Commack, NY. In celebration of her award, a symposium will feature an all day symposium on “Nursing’s Influence on Healthcare: Using Technology to Enhance Outcomes.”
Dr. Walsh-Irwin is the Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Advisor for the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Nursing Services in Washington, DC. She is field-based at the Northport VA Medical Center in New York where she practices as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner.
Dr. Walsh-Irwin is also a Clinical Assistant Professor for the School of Nursing at Stony Brook University and has presented locally and nationally at many conferences. She is a sub-investigator on multiple research studies at her facility and sits on many local, as well as national committees.
Dr. Walsh-Irwin has published in textbooks and journals on various cardiac topics. She has received multiple awards including the Nurse Practitioner of the Year 2016 from the Nurse Practitioner Association of Long Island.
