Women’s Lax Girds for NCAA Tournament

The No. 17 Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team once again proved its dominance in the America East, earning its seventh-straight conference title on Saturday night at LaValle Stadium, taking down UAlbany, 21-7.

With the win, the Seawolves punched its ticket to the NCAA tournament and will go head-to-head with reigning national champion James Madison in the first round of the NCAA tournament this Friday, May 10, at Maryland.
“I could not be prouder of this group,” said head coach Joe Spallina.  “I think our kids were fired up to show people how dominant we are. I think this game in my time was the finest championship performance we’ve had.”
The win over Albany was Stony Brook’s 11th in a row and 11th scoring 15-plus goals.
Ally Kennedy led the way for the Seawolves with six goals and one assist and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. Taryn Ohlmiller put up six points from five goals and one assist.
